ABOUT JANE MESSER
Jane Messer first connected with Varuna in 1990, when she wrote part of her first novel Night by Night during a residency. Jane has returned many times over the decades since, and in this online, self-paced course, Jane brings the Varuna magic to you as we explore Crafting Point of View.
Jane has been teaching creative writing for more than three decades. In this course, she focuses on one particular aspect of writing craft: point of view and focalisation. You’ll work with Jane as she discusses this important element of writing craft, analysing sample readings from well-known authors.
The course is delivered through nine videos and an accompanying written resource to guide you through the readings and associated tasks.

Jane Messer has mentored many writers and student writers over the past thirty years in her work as a creative writing teacher, mentor and editor. Jane has published novels, anthologies of world literature and new Australian writing; written and produced two radio dramas; and published experimental and realist short stories. As well as being passionate about her own writing, Jane loves working with writers to help them hone their craft, explore new techniques, become confident about process, and to write the best possible work.
